Hello! My name is Eric and I am a resident of Japan. If you have any questions you can contact me on Twitter @mr_g_k3! I own and use both the N4 So-matome JLPT book and Nihongo S-Matome.
You seem to be doing the N4 Nihongo S-Matome book. Have you used it before, and if so, how was it? Do you think youll be able to use it all the way through without doing more research? How is it as a study book?
If youre doing the Nihongo Challenge i would suggest using the JLPT N4 book (youll use it during the N4). I have seen people use this as a study book for the N4, but the idea is to get it out of the way and have more time to focus on hard reading in the 2nd half of the month. If youre planning on coming back after the N4 (like, say, the JLPT N5), I wouldnt suggest getting this book at all!
Hi! I am pretty new at this. I just started the Hobby Nihongo fuleship to learn more. I am a beginner just like you are. I decided to go with the N4 book, but it seems like the So-Matome JLPT N4 is more about the grammar than reading. I want to know your ideas on this. Thanks!
As a beginner, Nihongo S-Matome N1 seems like a good place to start. But, I have a fundamental understanding of Japanese, and Ive been studying Japanese for 2 years. I have a lot of overlap with my grammar classes. However, even though I already know some of the grammar, I would like to use one of the books that is more specifically geared toward learning kanji.
Book 2 in the "Nihongo So Matome" series is the Nihongo S-Matome N1. This book covers 50 kanji and 100 kana, plus some kotoba. A great for someone who wants a textbook for Nihongo that covers all the basics and then some. Like with all of the books in the "Nihongo So Matome" series, there are extra kanji and vocabulary explanations to help give context to the kanji. (Do not take the book for that though, it is a textbook first.) 3d9ccd7d82
