Is it possible to use the Git repo in Git Bash as a standalone repo?

I have a local copy of the master branch of a repo and I'd like to use this repo as a standalone one. That is, if I clone this repo, I want to use it as a repo. I don't want to use it as a working copy in any other repo.

This is the repo I have:

I've tried to clone it with:

git clone https://github.com/proseware/xav.git

It loads a new repo in my terminal and opens a new Git Bash.

If I check the files with:

git diff --staged

I can see that my changes are in the staging area.

Now, if I try to push these changes to the remote repo (but with a different local repo):

git push https://github.com/proseware/xav.git master

I get this error:

fatal: 'xav' does not appear to be a git repository

You can not clone a local repository as a remote repository. If you want to use a remote repository you have to clone it first.

If you want to use the local repository as a remote repo you have to add it to your remotes folder. But you have to use the git command line interface and not git bash.
